FALLOUT Producer Jonathan Nolan Calls Out TV’s Growing Season Gaps as Season 3 Aims to Film Next Summer
With Fallout Season 2 about to hit Prime Video, fans already have something big to look forward to. Executive producer Jonathan Nolan has confirmed that Fallout Season 3 is gearing up for a production start next summer, setting the stage for a possible 2027 release.
For a show this ambitious, that is surprisingly quick, and Nolan is very aware of how rare that is in today’s TV landscape.
Speaking with IGN, Nolan shared the update directly. "With regards to production, we're hoping to be shooting again next summer. We'll see if that all comes together, best laid plans, and all.
“But I'm excited that, though the scope of the show feels undiminished season on season, our incredibly talented cast and crew were able to work quickly enough to get back on the air in a reasonable amount of time.
"I think what's happened with television in terms of taking longer and longer from season to season is an unfortunate trend," he added. "You don't want the show to lose any of its scope, but we know that we'd like to be back on the air as soon as we can."
I hate that this is happening, and it has become a talking point across the entertainment world as prestige shows stretch into multi-year gaps.
Nolan’s commitment to keeping Fallout moving at a steady pace is something fans will definitely appreciate, especially with the series exploding in popularity. Prime Video renewed Fallout for Season 3 back in May, months ahead of season 2’s debut, which tells us how confident the streamer is in the franchise. The first season became one of the top three most watched Prime Video titles ever.
As for Season 2, it picks up immediately after the events of Season 1, which ended with Lucy learning the truth about her father and venturing out into the wasteland with The Ghoul.
The new season takes the duo on a road trip to New Vegas, and the footage released so far shows the show leaning into even more elements from the video games. Fans can expect Radroaches swarming, a glimpse of a Deathclaw arm and plenty of other wild wasteland surprises.
Fallout Season 2 lands on Prime Video on December 17.
