FALLOUT Season 3 Will Tap Into Long-Teased Game Elements as the Wasteland Expands
The world of Fallout is about to get even bigger, stranger, and a lot more unpredictable. With Season 3 officially on the horizon, co-showrunner Geneva Robertson-Dworet is teasing that the series is finally ready to pull in some long-awaited elements straight from the games.
If you’ve been hoping to see deeper connections to the source material, it sounds like the next chapter is where things really start to pay off.
Season 2 left fans with a lot to process, and now the creative team is leaning into what makes Fallout such a unique experience: with exploration, chaos, and constantly expanding horizons. Robertson-Dworet made it clear that while certain destinations may be teased, nothing in the Wasteland ever goes according to plan.
"We know The Ghoul is heading to Colorado, ideally, but in the Wasteland, thou shalt be sidetracked by bullshit every goddamn time," she joked during an exclusive interview with SFX magazine.
Even when characters have a goal, it’s the journey is what defines them, and that journey is about to get a lot more expansive.
"He still needs to figure out exactly where he’s going," Robertson-Dworet continued. "Of course, Lucy and Max and many of our other characters are not necessarily heading to Colorado, so we’re very excited to unveil new locations next season.
“In Fallout, you’re always journeying and exploring and building your map out bigger, so that’s what we want to be mimetic of."
Leaning into that structure opens the door for new factions, unexpected encounters, and fresh corners of the wasteland we haven’t seen yet. Then there’s the tease that’s going to get gamers especially hyped.
"That’s such a core component of Fallout, so the show is always going to get bigger and bigger – and explore new regions. There are definitely a few things from the game that we’ve wanted to do since season one. Now, it’s narratively the right time to get to them – but I don’t want to say more than that and spoil it.”
The cast is just as eager to jump back into the madness. Aaron Moten, who plays Max, hinted that things are only going to escalate from here.
"I’m sure there will be more chaos. Much more chaos. I’m excited to get to be back at work with my good friend Ella. It will be really fun – and we’re both really excited to hit the ground running again."
That chemistry between Moten and Ella Purnell has been one of the show’s strongest elements, and it sounds like Season 3 is ready to push their characters into even more intense situations.
There’s also been talk from producer Jonathan Nolan about potentially bringing a practical Liberty Prime Alpha suit to life, which, if it happens, would be a pretty cool addition.
With Season 2 wrapping on Prime Video and already shaking up expectations, the groundwork is set for something even more unpredictable.
