Miles Teller Shares Thoughts on Marvel’s THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS

Miles Teller has been making the rounds promoting his new genre-bending film The Gorge, but with Marvel Studios recently dropping the first trailer for Fantastic Four: First Steps, it was only a matter of time before the Fant4stic star was asked about it.

Josh Trank’s 2015 Fantastic Fourfilm was a disaster both critically and financially. It’s a film neither the cast nor the director has been particularly eager to revisit.

Teller, understandably, wasn’t exactly jumping at the chance to dive into memories of that troubled production when speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, but he did offer a brief, classy response when asked about the upcoming MCU reboot.

“I don’t wish anybody to be a part of a bomb … I just wish them the best," Teller said. "I saw the little trailer and I thought it looked fantastic, I’m very excited for them.”

It’s a gracious sentiment, especially considering the well-documented turmoil behind the scenes of Fant4stic. According to a 2015 report from, Trank was adamant about casting Teller as Mr. Fantastic, but things quickly soured between them once filming began.

Trank’s withdrawn and uncommunicative directing style reportedly clashed with Teller, who has a reputation for being blunt and sarcastic. The tension escalated to the point where the two were allegedly standing chest-to-chest, daring each other to throw the first punch.

It never came to blows, but the damage was done as it created a tense, uncomfortable working environment for everyone involved.

For Teller, Fant4stic is clearly a chapter in his career that he’d rather leave in the past, but at least he seems genuinely excited to see Marvel’s new take on the superhero team.
