Featurette For The Creepy Cool Dracula Horror Film THE LAST VOAGE OF THE DEMETER
Universal Pictures has released a new featurette for the Dracula-inspired horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter and it offers a cool behind-the-scenes look at the project. According to director André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark), when he set out to make this movie, he wanted to bring audiences the scariest depiction of Dracula ever, and I really hope that he succeeds in that!
The director goes on to compare the movie to Ridley Scott’s Alien, but instead of being set in space, it’s set in the 1800s on the high seas.
The new promo video features interviews with the cast and crew talking about the movie and it also delivers some creepy footage for you to enjoy. This looks like a good movie, the story of which focuses on one chapter from Bram Stoker’s classic horror novel, it’s a unique story that follows the voyage of Dracula as he terrorizes on the high seas.
One thing is for sure, we’ve never really seen Dracula portrayed as a man-bat like this before, so that will make things interesting.
The film is “based on a single chapter, The Captain’s Log, from Bram Stoker’s classic 1897 novel Dracula. The chapter tells the story of the Russian schooner, Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo – twenty four unmarked wooden crates – from Carpathia to London. The film will detail the strange events that befell the doomed crew as they attempt to survive the ocean voyage, stalked each night by a terrifying presence onboard the ship. When it finally arrived near Whitby Harbour, it was a derelict. There was no trace of the crew.”
The movie stars Corey Hawkins (Kong: Skull Island, The Walking Dead), Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham, David Dastmalchian, Jon Jon Briones, Stefan Kapicic, and Nikolai Nikolaeff, with Javier Botet as Dracula.
The Last Voyage of the Demeter hits theaters on August 11th, 2023.
