Final Trailer for GREENLAND 2: MIGRATION Pushes the Franchise Into Emotional Survival Mode
Lionsgate has released a third and final trailer for Greenland 2: Migration, and it leans hard into the emotional weight of survival. This latest look at the sequel puts the focus on family, loss, and the cost of staying alive after the world ends.
Picking up after the catastrophic ending of the first film, the story revisits the Garrity family five years after they barely survived the comet impact by reaching the Greenland bunker just in time.
Earth as they knew it is gone. Civilization has collapsed. The ice has claimed most of Europe. Safety, however, has become its own kind of prison. With resources dwindling and hope fading, the family makes a dangerous decision to leave the bunker and cross the frozen remains of Europe in search of something better.
That journey takes them toward France, near the site of the comet’s main crater, where rumors of a new settlement suggest humanity might still have a future.
The trailer sells this trek as brutal and uncertain, full of icy landscapes, hostile survivors, and impossible choices. What stands out most is how personal it feels. This isn’t just about outrunning extinction. It’s about holding a family together when everything else has already fallen apart.
The sequel once again stars Gerard Butler as John Garrity, with Morena Baccarin returning as Allison Garrity. They’re joined by Roger Dale Floyd, Roman Griffin Davis, Amber Rose Revah, and Trond Fausa Aurvåg. Butler once again looks fully locked into the role.
Greenland 2: Migration is directed once again by Ric Roman Waugh, reuniting him with Butler after their work on the first film and several other collaborations. The screenplay comes from Chris Sparling and Mitchell LaFortune.
For fans of intense disaster movies with a strong emotional backbone, this one looks like a must-see on the big screen, and I’m in. The film hits theaters January 9th, 2026.
