Wild Final Trailer For Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd's HBO Series THE IDOL
HBO has released the final trailer for its upcoming wild music industry drama series The Idol, which tells the story of the rise of a new megalomanic pop star. The series stars Lily-Rose Depp and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye. There’s been some controversy surrounding this series and I’ve heard from people that have seen it that it’s awful.
Co-created by Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, Tesfaye, and Reza Fahim, “The Idol is set against the backdrop of the music industry in Los Angeles.” It follows Rose Depp’s Jocelyn, a fame-hungry young woman looking to take over the entertainment industry. On her journey, she meets Tedros, “a powerful, sex-obsessed cult leader,” who is played by The Weeknd. Jocelyn’s career then takes off.
The cast also includes Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Jennie Ruby Jane, Eli Roth, Rachel Sennot, Hari Nef, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Mike Dean, Ramsey, and Hank Azaria.
According to a report from Rolling Stone, the production of this series had “gone wildly, disgustingly off the rails.” Sources say that after a change in directors with Levinson taking over for Amy Seimetz there was a “disturbing” turn, creating an insane working environment. But, the claims were refuted by members of the cast.
The Idol will premiere on Max on Sunday, June 4th.
