Final Trailer for Maika Monroe’s VICTORIAN PSYCHO Teases a Wickedly Twisted Horror Comedy

Maika Monroe is bringing murder and madness to Victorian England in Victorian Psycho, and Bleecker Street has released one final trailer for the upcoming horror comedy thriller. This looks like a twisted little treat, with Monroe playing a governess who might be the last person you’d want looking after your children.

Set in 1858, the film follows Winifred Notty (Monroe), an eccentric young woman who arrives at the remote gothic estate known as Ensor House to take a job as a governess. She's supposed to teach the children proper manners and educate them about their family history. Unfortunately, she's also hiding some seriously psychopathic tendencies.

As Winifred settles into her new position, members of the household staff begin mysteriously disappearing. Naturally, the estate's owners start questioning whether their strange new governess might have something to do with it.

The film takes us inside Winifred's disturbed mind as she struggles with a world she can't control, drifting between rebellion and outright madness. Think American Psycho transported to Victorian England, complete with gothic atmosphere, twisted humor, and a killer who has no business being around children.

The final trailer offers another taste of the film's darkly comedic approach to horror, with Monroe looking perfectly suited to playing a woman whose idea of good manners might involve a little bloodshed.

Joining Monroe is a terrific supporting cast that includes Jason Isaacs, Thomasin McKenzie, Ruth Wilson, Evie Templeton, Jacobi Jupe, Amy De Bhrún, Paul Reid, and Katherine Moran.

Zachary Wigon directs the film, following his previous work on The Heart Machine and Sanctuary. The screenplay comes from Virginia Feito, with Dan Kagan.

Victorian Psycho premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where it earned positive reviews, and this latest preview gives horror fans one final look at the insanity awaiting them at Ensor House.

Monroe has become a familiar face in horror, and watching her take on a murderous governess in a Victorian-era setting sounds like a pretty great time. I'm particularly interested in seeing how the film balances its pitch-black comedy with the increasingly disturbing events unfolding inside the manor.

Bleecker Street will release Victorian Psycho in select U.S. theaters on November 13, 2026.
