First Clip From CREATURE COMMANDOS Teases the Fun Dynamic of Task Force M
DC Studios has released the first clip for James Gunn’s upcoming animated series Creature Commandos and it teases the fun dynamic of Task Force M.
In this scene, Rick Flag Sr. is taking the members of Task Force M on their first mission, and the whole dysfunctional aspect of the team members is on full display.
G.I. Robot is just excited to kill some Nazis, but no one else really wants to be there. As for Weasel, he's not enjoying the ride on the chopper, and this leads to Flag referencing the events of The Suicide Squad.
Creature Commandos showrunner Dean Lorey recently talked about how this series is different from his previous DC projects, saying:
"Harley Quinn and Kite Man are both pure comedies. We always like to break those stories into dramas because we want to invest in the characters and all of that. But ultimately, they’re comedies, and Creature Commandos is closer to something like The Suicide Squad or Guardians of the Galaxy."
"There’s comedy in it, but it’s probably more of a drama-action picture than it is a pure comedy. 'Don’t judge a book by its cover' is very ingrained in the series.
“We learn a lot about characters we’ve seen before, like Weasel. He has a major arc in this season, and it’s very much about “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” It’s really true of all the characters."
"You have Frankenstein, who is a bit of an intellectual. He’s also a stalker. I think the characters are probably different from what you would expect out of those characters and we learn a lot of new things about them.”
The series “tracks a secret team of incarcerated monsters recruited for missions deemed too dangerous for humans. When all else fails…they’re your last, worst option.”
Gunn, who wrote the series, previously said: “The new series picks up directly after our Peacemaker season one finale, which leaves Waller with her hands tied operationally, meaning that she’s no longer able to get away with putting human lives on the line to carry out her clandestine morally questionable missions. Instead, she recruits a ragtag band of misfits, not unlike the Suicide Squad and Peacemaker.”
The team in the series consists of a human, a werewolf, a vampire, Frankenstein's monster, and a gorgon. The voice cast includes David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Sean Gunn as Weasel and GI Robot, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Indira Varma as The Bride, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, with Steve Agee reprising his role as John Economos from Peacemaker.
Creature Commandos will premiere on Max in December 5th, 2024. Enjoy the clip!
