First Look at Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek in MAGIC MIKE'S LAST DANCE
The first image has been released for director Steven Soderbergh’s Magic Mike’s Last Dance. It was a surprise when this project was first announced, but it’s a story that Soderbergh and Channing Tatum obviously felt passionate about telling.
The photo features Salma Hayek getting a little frisky with Tatum’s abs. Tatum wrote, "All good things begin in Miami. #MagicMikesLastDance in theaters Valentine's Day weekend.”
When previously talking about the film, Tatum, and writer Reid Carolin teased the story and revealed that the lead female role would be crucial to it. Carline said, “It’s really about a woman stuck at a horrible strip show like a Chippendales and then realizing, ‘What the hell am I doing here?’ And then Magic Mike comes down from the ceiling. She gets to go down the rabbit hole and asks: What do I really want?”
Tatum added that the character is “really strong, almost stronger than Mike … we’ve never done a traditional love story, and this isn’t a traditional love story.”
When talking about the release of the film Soderbergh added: "It's certainly hard to argue that this isn't a movie that's best seen in a theater, because we have the data. People, primarily women, were going in packs, in large groups, to see the Magic Mike movies. That's the discussion with Warners right now -- can we eventize this? And if so, should we put it out theatrically?"
He also talked about spinoff potential saying: "I think there are other things to be done within what I consider now to be a larger Magic Mike universe. There are stories that can be told that have the same sort of ethos and are tackling the same subjects that still involve dance but don't have Mike Lane in them."
Magic Mike’s Last Dance will be released in theaters on February 10th.
