First Look at Director Robert Eggers' NOSFERATU Remake
Thanks to Empire Magazine, we have a first look photo to share with you from director Robert Eggers’ highly anticipated remake of the classic 1922 vampire horror film Nosferatu. Eggers is the same filmmaker who previously brought us The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman. He’s a hell of a talented filmmaker and Nosferatu has been a passion project of his since high school. I’m excited to see what he does with this!
Eggers said in an interview with the magazine: “It’s a scary film. It’s a horror movie. It’s a Gothic horror movie. And I do think that there hasn’t been an old-school Gothic movie that’s actually scary in a while. And I think that the majority of audiences will find this one to be the case.”
The image above offers a first look at Lily-Rose Depp’s character Ellen, and it also includes the iconic shadowy claws of Count Orlok, who is played by Bill Skarsgård. When talking about Skarsgård, Eggers said: “I’ll say that Bill has so transformed, I’m fearful that he might not get the credit that he deserves because he’s just… he’s not there.”
In this new reimagining, Nosferatu tells the haunting gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman (Depp) in 19th-century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire (Skarsgard) who stalks her, bringing untold horror with him.
The movie also stars Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man: No Way Home), Nicholas Hoult (Renfield), Emma Corrin (Deadpool 3), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kraven the Hunter), Simon McBurney (The Conjuring 2) and Ralph Ineson (The Witch).
