First Look at Naomi Watts in Scrapped GAME OF THRONES Prequel Series BLOOD MOON
Five years after the pilot episode was shot for Naomi Watts’ scrapped Game of Thrones prequel series, the first images have surfaced featuring the actress in the lead role.
The project, which would have been called Blood Moon, was developed by George R.R. Martin and Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass, Kingsman: The Secret Service), and Watts was set to play “a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.”
Hair and makeup designer Flora Moody posted a selection of shots on Instagram from her time working on the series, and she said: "This is a chance to play with shape, proportion in the wig. To see how the makeup reads on film. To work together to find the character that portrays the director's vision. Collaboration is KEY! This was an unaired Game of Thrones prequel that I shot 4 years ago with the wonderful Naomi Watts.”
The series is set thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, “the project chronicles the world's descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.” The network teased the plot with the following logline: "Only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros' history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it's not the story we think we know."
I was looking forward to this series and it’s a shame that it never saw the light of day.
