First Look at Nicolas Cage in The Psychological Thriller THE SURFER
This is our first look at Nicolas Cage in the upcoming psychological thriller film The Surfer, which recently wrapped production in Western Australia.
In the film, Cage plays “a man who returns to Australia to buy back his family home after many years in the U.S. but is humiliated in front of his teenage son by a group of local surfers who claim ownership over the secluded beach of his childhood. Wounded, he defies them and remains at the beach, demanding acceptance. As the conflict escalates he is brought to the edge of his sanity and his identity is thrown into question.”
The movie is being directed by Lorcan Finnegan (Vivarium) and written by Thomas Martin. Executive producer Sam Hall previously talked about the project, saying: “We’re incredibly excited to be working with Lorcan, Thomas, Arenamedia and Tea Shop on such a visceral and unique thriller. Nicolas Cage is the perfect actor for this iconic role and will undoubtedly deliver a tour de force performance which is sure to be something very special and will captivate audiences worldwide.”
The cast for the film also includes Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck), Nicholas Cassim (Mr Inbetween), Miranda Tapsell (The Dry), Alexander Bertrand (Australian Gangster), Justin Rosniak (Last King of the Cross), Rahel Romahn (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), Finn Little (Yellowstone), and Charlotte Maggi (Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child on Fire).
