First Trailer For JOHN WICK AAA Video Game With Keanu Reeves Unleashes Action-Packed Mayhem

The Baba Yaga is heading back into the fight, but this time you’ll be holding the controller.

During this week’s State of Play showcase, fans got an unexpected and very cool reveal: a brand-new John Wick AAA video game is officially in development.

The project is being developed by Saber Interactive in collaboration with franchise director Chad Stahelski, star Keanu Reeves, and Lionsgate. Yes, this isn’t some loose adaptation. The core creative team is involved.

According to details shared on the PlayStation Blog, the untitled project is described simply as a “John Wick AAA game.” It doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s already shaping up to be something much bigger than a quick tie-in.

The game takes place “during a specific period within the John Wick timeline,” and from what we see in the trailer, it appears to lean closer to the era of the first film. Wick looks younger, and the tone feels grounded in the early days of his return to the underworld.

The story will feature “well-known and iconic characters, as well as compelling new characters specifically created for this production,” expanding the universe in meaningful ways rather than just retelling events from the films.

And yes, it wouldn’t be John Wick without the gun-fu. Saber is bringing the franchise’s signature combat style into gameplay along with “intense driving experiences,” which should translate beautifully into high-speed, chaos-filled missions.

The cinematic influence is front and center, too. In fact, Reeves himself is back as the voice of Wick. The trailer gives us a single word from him, delivered in classic fashion: “Yeah.”

Saber game director Jesus Iglesias confirmed just how closely tied this project is to the films, explaining: "This game takes place during a specific period within the John Wick timeline and contributes to the expansive and rich lore of the franchise."

He also teased how the movies’ DNA is being translated into gameplay: "There are signature elements from the John Wick movies that are also present in the game, incorporated to enhance the overall interactive experience.

"Things like the unique use of camerawork; the notable bold and cinematic environments; and of course, the extremely distinctive gun-fu action and intense driving experiences."

Saber has experience adapting film properties into games. The studio previously released Evil Dead: The Game and is currently developing Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival. So they aren’t new to the horror and action space, and now they’re stepping into one of modern action cinema’s most stylish franchises.

There’s no release window yet, and the game doesn’t even have an official title, but the involvement of Stahelski, Reeves, and Lionsgate makes it clear this isn’t a side project. It’s being built as a true extension of the franchise.

If they nail the combat flow and cinematic presentation, this could easily become one of the most exciting action games on the horizon. John Wick in a fully realized AAA game setting feels like something that should’ve happened years ago. But, now it’s finally happening.
