Awesome First Trailer for PEACEMAKER Season 2 Unleashes Chaos, Vengeance, and Fun
John Cena is back in DC action in the first trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, and as we imagined, things are about to get even messier. Released by Max, the trailer teases a chaotic return filled with everything fans love about the series including absurd violence, inappropriate jokes, and just enough emotional trauma to keep it weirdly heartfelt.
This time around, Christopher Smith isn’t just dealing with his complicated moral code, he’s being hunted. Frank Grillo enters the scene as Rick Flag Sr., and he’s not exactly interested in letting bygones be bygones.
His son, Rick Flag Jr. (Joel Kinnaman), was killed by Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad, and now Dad’s out for blood. It’s a personal vendetta of revenge, and in true Peacemaker fashion, it’s going to be explosive, bizarre, and emotional.
The trailer teases some interesting story elements and even include cameos from Isabela Merced’s Hawk Girl, Nathan Fillian’s Guy Gardner, and Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord.
James Gunn wrote every episode and is directing several of them as well. He’s confirmed that the events of Peacemaker Season 1 and The Suicide Squad remain canon in his reimagined DC Universe. That continuity carries over, and the trailer leans into the fallout:
“Peacemaker will face relentless pursuit by Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo) as a direct consequence of his reprehensible past actions.”
While Chris dodges Flag Sr., the 11th Street Kids are back in action. Danielle Brooks returns as Leota Adebayo, now dealing with the political fallout of publicly exposing Task Force X (and her mom, Amanda Waller).
Steve Agee’s John Economos is back following a Creature Commandos crossover, joined once again by Jennifer Holland’s Emilia Harcourt, who’s recovered from her injuries.
Freddie Stroma reprises his role as Vigilante, still charmingly deranged and dangerously unfiltered, and Eagly’s back too.
Gunn has made it clear that Season 2 will “directly continue Peacemaker’s story while transitioning him fully into the new DCU narrative.”
That includes the fallout from Season 1’s butterfly invasion, Chris’s climactic confrontation with his white supremacist father (Robert Patrick), and the emotional minefield that comes with trying to be a better person… while also wielding a grenade.
Robert Patrick will return as Auggie Smith, but this time around he will appear in flashbacks or haunting visions. Also joining the cast as Nhut Le as Judomaster, Sol Rodriguez as Sasha Bordeaux, Tim Meadows as A.R.G.U.S. agent Langston Fleury, David Denman in a mysterious role, and Brey Noelle as the eccentric Batman rogue, White Rabbit.
Peacemaker Season 2 premieres Thursday, August 21st on Max, just weeks after Superman hits theaters on July 11th. Enjoy the trailer!
