FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S Producer Wanted To Scare The SESAME STREET Generation and There's a New Featurette

The long-awaited film adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy’s will finally be released in theaters this week, and today we’ve got a new featurette to share with you titled “For The Fans.” It offers new footage and insight into the movie thanks to interviews with the cast and crew.

Then in a recent interview with GamesRadar, the film’s producer, Jason Blum, talked about the movie and bringing to life the terrifying animatronic creatures in the film. Blumhouse enlisted the help of Jim Henson's Creature Shop to pull off the goal of making them authentically terrifying. When asked if his intention was to scare audiences who grew up watching Sesame Street with the robots, he said:

"It really was! I like to get people started on horror very young and early. I thought this would be a great way to do exactly that to kind of convert a bunch of young people to horror fans."

Director Emma Tammi has also talked about how the PG-13 rating makes the movie a "gateway" to the horror genre for younger viewers. I actually got my kids into horror films at a young age. It started with films like Monster House, and we built up the base from there. Now my kids are big horror fans! In fact, they’re only really interested in watching horror movies now! I’ll never forget the first time I showed them the original Poltergeist movie. That is one of my favorite movie memories with my kids.

Blum and Tammi were asked what they would do if they had to face-off with these creepy-ass animatronics in real life. Tammi’s response was, “If you can’t beat them, join them.” Blum’s response was, "Oh, I like that. I'm on board with that. I’d get my own suit, get my own animatronic. I’d find my own animatronic to start to join the band."

The film follows “a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through.” You see, there are ghost children who are possing giant animatronics that are out to terrorize.

It stars Josh Hutcherson (Ultraman, The Hunger Games), Elizabeth Lail (You, Mack & Rita), Piper Rubio (Holly & Ivy, Unstable), Kat Conner Sterling (We Have a Ghost, 9-1-1), with Mary Stuart Masterson (Blindspot, Fried Green Tomatoes) and Matthew Lillard (Good Girls, Scream).

The movie will be released on October 27th. Watch the featurette below!
