Fox's X-FORCE Movie Will Be Written and Directed By Drew Goddard!
Fox has officially hired The Cabin in the Woods director Drew Goddard to write and direct their X-Force movie! Goddard also worked on Marvel's Daredevil and The Defenders, so he seems like a great choice!
It's been confirmed that X-Force will continue the adventures of Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Cable (Josh Brolin) as they lead "a Black Ops force of down and dirty mutant warriors who are far more ruthless than their X-Men counterparts." I think it's a safe bet that Domino (Zazie Beetz) will get in on the action as well.
Goddard has done a lot of great work in his career and I'm excited that he'll be taking on the project. I think he's a great choice that will do some badass things with these characters!
There's a good chance that the film will fall into the rated R category. Like Deadpool and Logan, I don't think they'll want to hold anything back with these edgy Marvel characters. Some of those other characters are rumored to be Sunspot, Feral, and Shatterstar.
Goddard was originally supposed to write and direct Sony Pictures' Sinister Six movie, but as you know that fell apart. It's good to see that he's finally got an awesome comic book movie of his own to work on!
Goddard will next direct Bad Times at the El Royale with Chris Hemsworth and Jeff Bridges, and he will get right to work on X-Force as soon as he's done with it.
Fox is also developing a New Mutants film with The Fault in Our Stars director Josh Boone and David Leitch recently wrapped production on Deadpool 2. Then there's X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which is being directed by Simon Kinberg.
Lots of fun X-Men films coming, but I'm mostly excited for Deadpool and the X-Force!
