FULLER HOUSE Officially Picked Up By Netflix, Sounds Pretty Dark
Well, it's happening. After some early discussion, Netflix has officially picked up a Full House revival show called Fuller House for a 13-episode run. And based on the official logline, this sounds like it might be a slightly darker show than the happy-go-lucky '90s sitcom that everyone remembers.
In ’Fuller House,’ the adventures that began in 1987 on ’Full House’ continue, with veterinarian D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Cameron-Bure) pregnant and recently widowed, living in San Francisco. D.J.’s younger sister/aspiring musician Stephanie Tanner (Sweetin) and D.J.’s lifelong best friend/fellow single mother Kimmy Gibbler (Barber), along with Kimmy’s feisty teenage daughter Ramona, all move in to help take care of D.J.’s two boys — the rebellious 12-year-old J.D. and neurotic 7-year-old Max — and her soon-to-arrive baby.
Get it? It's called Fuller House because D.J.'s new last name is Tanner-Fuller. But man, that character has had quite a life. Her mom died when she was a little girl, and now her husband has died too? And she has two kids with a third on the way? That's pretty freakin' rough. Will D.J.'s old boyfriend Steve re-enter her life again? I'd bet money that he shows up.
Look, I realize that this show is being produced almost solely to pander to the nostalgia of people who grew up watching it, and that if you're not on board with that, you're probably not going to enjoy the series. Is it something I'll check out myself? Honestly, probably not. But there seems to be a big audience out there for this revival (or at least a lot of people talking about it), so I'll wait to hear back from some of you about how it turned out before I fully pass judgment on it.
