Fun First Trailer for ADVENTURE TIME: SIDE QUESTS Takes Finn and Jake Back to Their Adventuring Roots

The Land of Ooo is opening its doors once again, but this time fans are heading back to where the adventure began.

The first trailer for Adventure Time: Side Quests has officially arrived, giving viewers their first look at the newest chapter in the beloved animated franchise.

While recent Adventure Time projects have expanded the mythology of the series and explored new corners of its universe, Side Quests is taking a different path by returning to the simpler, quest-driven storytelling.

Set during the duo’s younger adventuring years, the series follows Finn and Jake as they tackle monsters, strange encounters, and all kinds of bizarre missions across Ooo.

It feels like a return to the classic formula that powered the original series, focusing less on sprawling lore and more on the fun, unpredictable adventures that helped make Adventure Time a cultural phenomenon.

While the characters themselves look familiar, the show's visual style has undergone a noticeable transformation. The new animation embraces brighter backgrounds, richer colors, and a more fluid sense of movement.

It still captures the charm and personality of early Adventure Time, but the overall presentation is flatter, more two-dimensional, and carries an almost storybook-like quality that helps it stand apart from previous entries in the franchise.

The new aesthetic gives Side Quests its own identity while still feeling connected to the world longtime fans know and love.

Produced by Cartoon Network Studios, Adventure Time: Side Quests was first announced at the 2024 Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The series is led by original Adventure Time veteran Nate Cash, who serves as showrunner and executive producer.

Several familiar voices are also returning to the franchise, including John DiMaggio, Tom Kenny, Hynden Walch, Olivia Olson, and Niki Yang.

Side Quests continues the steady expansion of the Adventure Time universe, joining projects such as Distant Lands and Fionna and Cake, while also paving the way for the upcoming Heyo BMO series.

Fans won’t have to wait long to jump back into Ooo. Adventure Time: Side Quests premieres on June 29 on Disney+ and Hulu in the United States, with international releases planned through Cartoon Network and HBO Max.

The series looks like a fun reset for the franchise, offering a chance to spend more time with Finn and Jake doing what they do best: setting off on weird, hilarious, and unforgettable adventures.
