Fun THE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY HOLIDAY SPECIAL Promo Shares Some Interesting Details
Marvel has released a new featurette for James Gunn’s The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, and it offers us an entertaining behind the scenes look at the film. It’s going to be great to see Peter Quill and the gang of misfit heroes again as they celebrate the holidays by kidnapping Kevin Bacon.
The video offers up some insight into the project from Kevin Feige along with writer and director James Gunn and Chris Pratt. Feige claims in the video that this special was actually “the very first thing ever conceived” by Marvel for the Disney+ platform, which is interesting!
Gunn initially came up with the idea during the production of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which was more than two years before Disney+ actually launched in late 2019. Feige said that it didn’t take long for Gunn to figure out the story and he ended up writing the script in only three days.
Gunn previously said that this little movie is the greatest thing he’s ever done:
"The Holiday Special is the greatest thing I've ever done in my life. It's totally ridiculous, and every day we can't believe that we're making it. We all completely love it. It is unlike anything that anyone's ever seen before. I can't wait for people to see it."
In the film, Star-Lord is feeling super down in the dumps over his situation with Gamora. So Drax and Mantis head to Earth to bring Peter Quill back the perfect present to cheer him up! Something that he’ll never forget, which is Kevin Bacon.
The film also stars Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, and Sean Gunn as Kraglin. It’s also been revealed that Michael Rooker will appear in the film!
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special hits Disney+ on November 25.
