Fox's WAR OF THE WORLDS Series Will Star Gabriel Byrne and Elizabeth McGovern
There are currently two adaptations of War of the Worlds being made. One is by BBC, the other is from Urban Myth Film under Fox Networks Group. We’re currently talking about the latter which was written by Howard Overman. Originally, it was believed that Overman’s vision would be a film adaptation starring Greg Kinnear, but according to new reports it will be a series and it will star Gabriel Byrne (Hereditary) and Elizabeth McGovern (Downton Abby).
The other members of the cast currently include Adel Bencherif, Stéphane Caillard, Léa Drucker, Guillaume Gouix, Daisy Edgar Jones, and Natasha Little.
“Set in contemporary Europe, the reimagining will follow the pockets of humanity left on earth following an apocalyptic extra-terrestrial strike.”
The series will consist of eight 60-minute episodes with Gilles Coulier directing the first four and Richard Clark directing the latter half. It is expected for this adaptation to be released later this year on Canal+ in France and Fox in other markets.
