Gal Gadot Calls Out DC Studios Over Henry Cavill’s Treatment and Says She Was Told WONDER WOMAN 3 Was Happening

Gal Gadot has opened up about the end of her time as Wonder Woman, and what she was told by DC Studios didn’t exactly match what ultimately happened.

The Justice League star also weighed in on the messy exits of Henry Cavill and Patty Jenkins, saying neither was handled particularly well. Even if DC came calling again, though, Gadot now has another major reason she probably wouldn’t put the Wonder Woman armor back on.

Back in 2023, Gadot publicly said that DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran had told her they would develop Wonder Woman 3 with her and Jenkins. Reports then surfaced disputing her version of events, leaving the impression that Gadot had misunderstood the conversations or simply wasn’t telling the truth.

According to Gadot, however, she knows exactly what she was told. During a conversation with Josh Horowitz, Gadot was asked whether Gunn and Safran had informed her that her run as Wonder Woman was finished.

"They told me the opposite," the actress said. "They were like, 'We're going to develop it with you.' But I saw the way everybody else was handled, right? The Henry situation was not handled elegantly, to say the least. Same with Patty. [It] was not handled elegantly."

That puts Gadot’s original 2023 comments in a different light. Gunn, who has frequently used Threads to correct DC rumors and respond directly to fans, didn’t publicly clear up the Wonder Woman situation at the time.

We later learned that Gadot’s Wonder Woman 3 wasn’t moving forward, something both she and Jenkins have since confirmed.

Despite how things played out, Gadot doesn’t sound interested in carrying a grudge against the people now running DC.

"I feel like, you know, we're all adults and it's all good. And it's not even about them. They are there, and they're there to do what they believe in, and it's all good. I'm so grateful that I got the opportunity to wear these boots and to have the character be so celebrated and be the vessel at that point in time."

The Cavill situation remains one of the strangest chapters in DC’s transition from the DCEU to Gunn and Safran’s new DC Universe.

Dwayne Johnson pushed hard to bring Cavill back as Superman for the post-credits scene in Black Adam, overcoming resistance from Warner Bros. executives in the process. Cavill then filmed another Superman cameo for The Flash that audiences never saw, while discussions surrounding Man of Steel 2 started taking shape.

Then Gunn and Safran took control of DC Studios. Their Superman plans called for a younger version of Clark Kent, effectively ending Cavill’s comeback almost immediately after the actor had publicly announced his return.

Wanting a new Superman for a new continuity makes sense, but the situation became harder for some fans to swallow as other DCEU actors remained in Gunn’s DCU, including John Cena as Peacemaker.

Gadot appears ready to let Wonder Woman move on as well, and she had some thoughtful advice for the actress who eventually inherits the role.

"I can only wish for whoever it's going to come pure to this journey because as much as it's like we're talking about movies and superheroes and blah blah blah, but this character really means so much to so many of us."

She continued, "To really use it respectfully and bring all the love and light it can to this world," before adding, "Enjoy the ride. It was never mine. I was always just a vessel. This is Hollywood."

There’s another reason Gadot isn’t particularly interested in returning, and this one has nothing to do with DC Studios. Her life has changed.

When the conversation turned to her career and what it would take to revisit a major franchise role, Gadot explained that the enormous time commitment required for another Wonder Woman movie simply doesn’t fit with raising four children.

"Look, it's all about the script and the filmmaker usually. I do think that, you know, for me to go and do, for example, another Wonder Woman, I'm not sure I would at this point in my life with four children, and different schools and all of that to check out all of them for such a long period of time. It doesn't work with my life anymore at this point."

A superhero movie can consume months of an actor’s life between training, production, reshoots, press, and everything else that comes with a project of that size.

The DCU is already moving toward its own version of Wonder Woman. Adria Arjona is rumored to play Diana in next summer’s Man of Tomorrow, while Supergirl writer Ana Nogueira is working on the script for the upcoming Wonder Woman reboot. A release date hasn’t been announced.

Whoever eventually takes up the Lasso of Truth will have some big boots to fill. Gadot played Wonder Woman across the DCEU and helped turn the character into one of the franchise’s biggest theatrical successes.
