Gal Gadot Has Some Advice for the DCU’s New Wonder Woman Amid MAN OF TOMORROW Rumors

Gal Gadot may be finished playing Wonder Woman, but she has some gracious words for the actress who eventually takes her place as Diana Prince in the DCU.

There’s still plenty we don’t know about the future of Wonder Woman, including who will play the Amazon warrior. With speculation swirling that Diana could appear in Man of Tomorrow, and some fans convinced Adria Arjona has landed the role, Gadot was recently asked about passing the torch.

It’s quite a change from where things appeared to stand back in 2023. At the time, Gadot said she believed DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran intended to develop a third Wonder Woman movie with her returning.

"I had a meeting with (DC Studios CEOs) Peter Safran and James Gunn, and they both told me that they're going to develop a third Wonder Woman with me. They said, 'You're in the best hands, you've got nothing to worry about.' Time will tell."

Before the DCU reboot, Gadot had been expected to return as Diana in Wonder Woman 3, with Patty Jenkins back to direct following Wonder Woman 1984. The project was ultimately shelved around the time Gunn and Safran took control of DC Studios.

The character is now getting another shot at the big screen. A new Wonder Woman movie is in development at DC Studios, with Supergirl writer Ana Nogueira working on the screenplay. The big question is whether we’ll meet the new Diana before that solo movie arrives.

There have been reports that Wonder Woman could make her DCU debut in Man of Tomorrow, and fans have been debating whether Adria Arjona has secretly been cast as Diana rather than playing the villain Maxima. Nothing on that front has been confirmed, so for now it remains fan speculation.

Speaking with Screen Rant, Gadot was asked what advice she would give whoever eventually gets the opportunity to put on Wonder Woman’s armor.

"This is such an incredible character that so many of us care about so much, so whoever it's going to be to portray her, I wish for her that she enjoys this amazing ride with this amazing character. And I'm just grateful that I was granted the opportunity to wear her boots and celebrate this incredible character and everything she stands for."

It’s a classy sendoff from an actress who became closely associated with the character over the course of multiple DC movies.

Gadot was also asked whether she might follow a path similar to Jason Momoa, who left Aquaman behind and is returning to the DC Universe as Lobo in Supergirl.

That doesn’t appear to be in the cards right now. Gadot said there haven’t been any "specific conversations" with Gunn or anyone else at DC Studios about her taking on another role.

She added that the last time they spoke was when "they came to the studio, and they really wanted to develop the third one."

Whatever happened with those earlier plans, DC Studios is definitely interested in getting Wonder Woman back on the screen.

Gunn recently addressed reports that the new movie was being "fast-tracked." He pushed back on that particular description, but made it clear that Wonder Woman, along with Batman, has become an important piece of the studio’s plans.

"I don’t know what they mean by fast-tracking. [Laughs.] I’ve always had Wonder Woman as a priority. But we got the first few things started, and there’s some other things that are really close to green-lighting — like there’s a television show that I hope that we’re gonna be green-lighting in the next few days.

“So now a little time has passed, and we really need Wonder Woman and we really need Batman, because they’re so important to us. And so it’s become a little bit more like going to everybody at DC and being like, we need to figure this out.

“We have good writers on Wonder Woman and we just have to make sure it’s working and they have to not be somebody who’s gonna take two years to write a script."

Whether Diana really does turn up in Man of Tomorrow, whether Arjona is actually involved, or whether DC Studios saves the character’s introduction for her solo film remains to be seen.
