Galactus Confirmed to Be the Main Villain in Marvel's THE FANTASTIC 4.... Obviously
Following the casting news that Julia Garner will play the Shalla-Bal version of Silver Surfer in Marvel’s The Fantastic 4, a new report has surfaced confirming that Galactus will be the main villain.
The news comes from Deadline’s Justin Kroll, who shared on X, "Seemed obvious given Silver Surfer involvement but yes Galactus expected to be main villain and that role is currently open with no one in talks or holding offer for role.”
It’s been pretty obvious that Galactus was going to be the main villain The Fantastic 4, but it’s going to be interesting to see who Marvel ends up casting in the role.
It was previously reported that Javier Bardem was the studio’s top choice for the role, and he is a compelling choice to play Galactus.
Fantastic Four is currently in development with WandaVision's Matt Shakman set to direct the movie. He previously teased that this movie is going to be very different than anything we’ve seen in the MCU yet saying: "It's different in so many ways. I wish I could be specific.”
He added: “I wish I could say more. But we are doing things very differently from a story standpoint, from an approach to the filmmaking standpoint, that really fits the material. I wish I could say more. I would love to, but I can't. But I think it's going to be unlike anything you've seen before, and certainly unlike anything at Marvel that you've seen before."
Marvel producer Stephen Broussard previously promised that the film will be a true celebration of the original source material from the comics: “One of the founding principles of Marvel, going back to Iron Man and the casting of Tony that I think has resonated through today, is to embrace the source material and these comics that have been around forever.”
He added: “They’re older than me, and I’m guessing they’re older than you too. They’ve been around for a while for a reason, [so we] lean into that.”
One of the things we do know bout the movie is that the story set in the 1960s, which is exciting! Fans are just hoping Marvel knocks this one out f of the park. We’ve been waiting a long time for a great Fantastic Four movie and I hope they don’t drop the ball!
The movie stars Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning) as Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman; Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch; and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Punisher, The Bear) as Ben Grimm, aka the Thing.
The Fantastic 4will be directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision) from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, who was brought in to re-write the script originally written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.
The Fantastic 4 will hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
