GAMBIT is Hoping to Name Director Soon and Begin Filming This Summer

Whether you’re excited for the movie, or wish that it would go away, it looks like Gambit may start filming this summer. At a screening of Deadpool 2, executive producer Simon Kinberg told Variety:

““We have a script that’s extraordinary, that we love, that Channing loves. We’ve met with a bunch of directors in the last few weeks and we’re hoping to pick one in the next couple of weeks, then shoot the movie maybe this summer.”

That will be either exciting or infuriating to you depending on how you feel about this movie. It’s been in the works for years with several directors tied to it before they left. If it were not for Channing Tatum’s star power I’m sure this movie would’ve died years ago. Let’s hope that his enthusiasm and sheer force of will help this movie be good since it appears that it’s not going anywhere.

I know I’m a little frustrated because it’s currently set to release in June 2019, before The New Mutants which has been doing reshoots and quite frankly I have higher hopes for it than Gambit. It’s frustrating when a movie that’s almost done will be released after a movie that doesn’t even have a director. It also worries me a lot. Hopefully, if Gambit persists, it will change its release date.

As for directors, there has been a rumor that Jordan Vogt-Roberts is taking up the role, but that has not been confirmed yet. Who would you love to see helm this film?
