Genndy Tartakovsky's PRIMAL Season 3 Confirmed to Be in Production

Adult Swim has confirmed that Genndy Tartakovsky is developing a third season of his badass prehistoric animated action series Primal, and the series is currently in production.

Primal Season 3 is going to be a little different than the first two. If you haven’t watched Season 2 yet, I get into some spoiler territory here.

Spear died in Season 2 as he was protecting Fang and his newfound tribe. But before he died, he fell in love with a character named MIra, and together they conceived a daughter. At the end of the second season, there was a shot featuring Spear and Mira's daughter, with Fang and its offspring joining her.

Tartakovsky had this to say about the renewal: "It's happening! Primal has become a contagious disease that I don't ever want to cure. Every episode flows out like an unstoppable force beyond my control. Prepare yourselves Primal fans for Season 3 is coming!"

The President of Adult Swim, Michael Ouweleen, shared his thoughts about the return of Primal saying: "Most shows would have a hard time continuing after the main character is killed off, but this isn't most shows. Leave it to Genndy and team to keep us all in suspense as 'Primal' continues its adventure."

President of Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios, Sam Register, commented on the season 3 renewal, saying: "When Genndy says he is not finished with Primal, our only job is to do everything possible to support that vision and give him the opportunity to tell more incredible and imaginative stories. I can't wait to see where he takes us next."

Tartakovsky has a big plan for Season 3 and when previously talking about it, he teased: “I have something in mind that is so spectacular I cannot wait to do it, and we're trying to figure out how to do it. It's a brand new world, but I'm so into it. I think everybody's going to love it. It's a very natural progression without giving anything away, but I've got more things for the Primal world and I cannot wait to do more.”

Tartakovsky has got a few projects he’s currently working on including Unicorn: Eternal Warriors, and his new R-Rated animated film, Fixed.

Primal is currently streaming on HBO Max and the story follows a caveman at the dawn of evolution as he forms an unlikely friendship with an almost extinct dinosaur. The stunning and epic series is a painting come to life relying solely on music and graphic imagery to tell the story of two unlikely allies as they navigate through a treacherous world. After bonding over unfortunate tragedies, they seem to become each other's only hope of survival against a common enemy.

You should watch it if you haven’t already!
