George Lucas' Favorite New STAR WARS Project is Apparently The OBI-WAN KENOBI Series
You know, I’ve wondered what George Lucas thinks of the new Star Wars projects being developed by Lucasfilm and Disney over the past several years, and which of the projects he likes most.
Well, according to Lucasfilm Story Group member Pablo Hidalgo, Lucas’ favorite new project is the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
During an interview with Full of Sith, Hidalgo revealed that there were feelings of anxiety early on when playing the Star Wars era set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, where, as Hidalgo explains, fans would have an "assurance" of already thinking they know what happened.
To help work through that, Lucasfilm reached out to Lucas before they started production on Obi-Wan Kenobi to give them some clarity on if they were on the right track.
Hidalgo shared: "Part of that was interfacing with George. Early on, there was a conversation had with George over what his thoughts were… He was 100% supportive.”
He then added: "I’ve heard tell that it’s been one of [his] favorite things that’s come out of Star Wars, because he recognizes so much of what he did in the prequels basically brought forward and celebrated it."
I can understand that to an extent, but in my opinion, Obi-Wan Kenobi was one of the most poorly written Star Wars projects. I think it could’ve been a great show, but the development team dropped the ball on the story.
After the first episode, every episode that came after just got frustratingly worse. But hey, if George Lucas likes it, he likes it!
