George R.R. Martin Addresses Rumors of an ELDEN RING Movie in a Way That Makes You Think It's Happening
Elden Ring is one of the most popular video games right now, and it delivers a visually stunning and epic story! It’s only a matter of time before Hollywood ruins it by adapting it into a film.
There have been rumors that an Elden Ring movie is already in development, and George R.R. Martin, who worked on the game, recently addressed those rumors, and he does it in a way that makes you think that it’s actually happening.
He shared on his blog: "Oh, and about those rumors you may have heard about a feature film or television series based on ELDEN RING… I have nothing to say. Not a word, nope, not a thing, I know nothing, you never heard a peep from me, mum mum mum. What rumor?" Right…”
Martin lays it on pretty thick there. The first hints of a potential film came from creator Hidetaka Miyazaki, who said that there was "interest". He told Guardian: "I don't see any reason to deny another interpretation of Elden Ring, a movie for example.
“But I don't think myself, or FromSoftware, have the knowledge or ability to produce something in a different medium. So that's where a very strong partner would come into play."
If this movie does get made, it will be interesting to see who is brought on board to write and direct it. This thing could be a Lord of the Rings-style epic if done right. But they need an amazing creative team to make that happen.
This also needs to be a whole series of films that goes beyond a trilogy. There is just so much damn story to cover! And all of that story is freakin’ fascinating!
The story of Elden Ring begins with the shattering of the Elden Ring, a cosmic artifact that governs the world of Elden Ring and defines its rules. The shards of the Elden Ring, known as Great Runes, fall into the hands of demigods who fight for control, resulting in a war called "The Shattering". With no victor, an era begins without a Lord.
