Gerard Butler Reveals There Are Sequels in the Works for ANGEL HAS FALLEN and DEN OF THIEVES
The next time we see Gerard Butler on the big screen it will be in a comet disaster movie titled Greenland, which you can watch the trailer for here. Butler has a few other projects in the works, but he’s also recently revealed that he is also working on sequels for Angel Has Fallen and Den of Thieves.
During a recent interview with EW, Butler revealed that Angel Has Fallen and Den of Thieves will be getting sequels. When talking about reprising his role as Fallen hero Mike Banning, Butler laughingly said:
"I think with everything going on, we need him. He needs to come back.”
He then added:
“Yeah, I think you will be seeing another. We're toying away with another really fantastic idea that we're working on at the moment that obviously we can't say too much about."
The actor when on to talk about reuniting with writer-director Christian Gudegast for a follow-up to their 2018 action crime thriller Den of Thieves, in which he played a cop named Big Nick who set out on a mission to put an end to a string of heists conducted by an elusive crew. This was actually a great movie! I didn’t think we’d get a sequel, but here’s what Butler said:
"We're working on that script at the moment, and I'm getting pages daily from Christian. It's a fun ride, spreading across North America into Europe and the diamond district of Marseilles. It's very cool and has a more European vibe this time. All the fun characters, Big Nick, Donnie, and Lobbin' Bob [Jordan Bridges], will be back. And I'm really excited about it."
I enjoyed Den of Thieves, and I’ve enjoyed the films in the Fallen franchise, so these are sequels that I can totally get behind!
