Gina Carano Breaks Silence After Disney Settlement Over THE MANDALORIAN Firing

Gina Carano has spoken out for the first time since reaching a surprising legal settlement with The Walt Disney Company over her 2021 firing from The Mandalorian. The agreement officially ends her long-running legal battle and could signal a major shift in her relationship with the studio.

On August 7, 2025, Carano and Disney jointly filed to dismiss her lawsuit with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled. The filing noted that both sides had agreed to drop all claims and defenses, pending a judge’s approval.

Disney and Lucasfilm released a statement, saying, “The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies.

“Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect. With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.”

Carano originally filed her lawsuit in 2024, alleging wrongful termination and political discrimination after her removal from The Mandalorian. The controversy began when she posted on social media comparing being Republican to being Jewish during the Holocaust. Her legal action sought reinstatement to the series and at least $75,000 in damages.

One of the most high-profile aspects of the case was Elon Musk stepping in to cover her legal fees, honoring his 2023 pledge to support X users who lost their jobs over their posts.

The day the settlement was filed, Carano posted on X, “… and the truth shall set you free.” She later shared a longer statement: “I have come to an agreement with Disney/Lucasfilm which I believe is the best outcome for all parties involved. I hope this brings some healing to the force.”

She went on to thank Musk, her legal team, and her fans, adding that she’s ready to move forward and keep working in the arts.

While it’s unclear exactly what “future opportunities” Disney hinted at might be, this settlement closes one of the most talked-about Hollywood disputes of the past few years, and it may even open the door for Carano to step back into a galaxy far, far away.
