Gina Carano Opens Up About Recent Talk With Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni as STAR WARS Fans Eye a Possible Return
There’s been a lot of curiosity surrounding Gina Carano and her connection to the Star Wars universe lately, and now we’ve got a clearer picture of what’s actually happening behind the scenes.
After news broke that Carano recently spoke with key Star Wars creatives Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, fans started wondering if this could be the first step toward her return as Cara Dune in The Mandalorian.
Carano has now shared more about that conversation, and while it doesn’t confirm anything major, it definitely adds an interesting layer to the story.
Following her legal settlement with Disney over her wrongful termination lawsuit, things seem to be easing between Carano and the studio. That shift opened the door for a recent Zoom call with Favreau and Filoni, two of the most important figures shaping modern Star Wars storytelling.
According to Carano, the meeting wasn’t some big creative summit, but more of a simple check-in between people who’ve worked closely together before.
“I think it was, ’let’s touch base,’” Carano shared. “Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni were two people that I always respected, and we went through two seasons together, and we had a great relationship. And even during everything that was happening, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau were never the bad guys to me.”
While there’s still no official word on Cara Dune making a comeback, Carano made it clear that reconnecting with them mattered on a personal level.
“I won’t really disclose any of that, but I will say that for me, it was an important conversation,” She continued. “To Zoom, to see each other, to mend whatever, to make sure everybody was good. And everybody was good.”
It sounds less like a pitch meeting and more like clearing the air, which honestly might be the most important step if anything else is ever going to happen down the line.
Carano also took a moment to show some love for Favreau and his upcoming Star Wars project, The Mandalorian and Grogu, which continues the story he helped build from the ground up.
“Jon Favreau directed it, and he’s a good man. He’s a great storyteller. He’s an amazing artist,” she said. “And I would really like to see all of this turmoil within the Star Wars fandom kind of come to an end.
“It just feels like it’s a never-ending war. I love peace. When all parties can be happy, we can move on” from a chapter of her life she refers to as “a very harsh education.”
She’s looking at moving forward. Whether that includes stepping back into Cara Dune’s boots or not is still a big question mark, but the fact that communication has reopened is enough to keep fans talking.
