Glen Powell Sets Sail with R-Rated Teen Comedy THE F**KBOAT at Paramount
Glen Powell is keeping his hot streak going. Fresh off projects like The Running Man and Chad Powers, the actor and producer is steering a new R-rated teen comedy titled The F*ckboat over to Paramount Pictures.
Variety confirmed the development, and it sounds like Powell is diving into the kind of wild, stylish comedy described as a “high concept” comedy “in the vein of Risky Business and Easy A,” and it comes from writers Caroline Glenn and Sean Doherty.
Powell is producing through Barnstorm, the company he launched with Dan Cohen earlier this year. The script had multiple producers trying to get their hands on it before Barnstorm secured the spec. Once Powell and Doherty locked the final version, it was taken to buyers and Paramount, now under Skydance ownership, snagged it.
Plot specifics for The F*ckboat are still being kept quiet, but the creative team behind it is shaping up nicely. Glenn will executive produce the film with Barnstorm’s Ryan Schwartz, and Jacquelina Rosso will co produce.
Barnstorm already has a first look deal with Universal and a growing lineup of exciting collaborations. Alongside The F*ckboat, the company is developing new projects with Judd Apatow, Barry Jenkins and Ron Howard. For a young production banner, that is a seriously impressive slate.
The film marks the first feature script that Glenn and Doherty have written together. The two met back in 2016 at Emerson College and have been friends ever since. Glenn, a Los Angeles based screenwriter, is preparing to release her debut novel Cruelty Free in February 2026. Doherty, originally from Massachusetts, is a senior producer at Conan O’Brien’s Team Coco.
The project is clearly meaningful for both writers, and now it has a major studio and a high profile producer behind it. With Powell helping lead the charge, The F*ckboat already feels like a comedy fans will want to keep on their radar.
