Glen Powell Shares Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Reaction to THE RUNNING MAN Remake
Glen Powell just gave fans an update that’s sure to get every sci-fi action junkie fired up. The Top Gun: Maverick star revealed that Arnold Schwarzenegger has officially seen the upcoming remake of The Running Man, and the original star absolutely loved it.
Powell, who takes on the lead role in the new adaptation, shared with ScreenRant that he personally showed Schwarzenegger the completed film, and the reaction couldn’t have been more positive.
“He was so excited that the Stephen King book we put on screen – it’s really the first time Stephen’s vision has been properly adapted. He just kept saying, ‘It’s incredible.’”
Schwarzenegger not only enjoyed the movie but seemed genuinely impressed by how the new film embraces the tone and story of King’s original novel.
Powell also touched on how grueling the shoot was, describing it as one of the most physically challenging projects of his career. Schwarzenegger, a veteran of countless punishing action roles, immediately recognized what Powell had endured.
“He loved it – freaked out, was so excited. But the first thing he told me, he goes, ‘This was a very painful movie for you.’ He’s shot so many action movies, and he knows what it takes to throw yourself around.”
It’s a mutual respect between two generations of action stars, one passing the torch to another who’s clearly earned it. Powell added that Schwarzenegger didn’t just appreciate the performance, he understood the effort behind making the movie.
“He’s like, ‘One of the hardest action movies – those are just not easy things to get right.’”
The Running Man remake is set to hit theaters on November 14, 2025, promising a fresh, intense, and faithful take on Stephen King’s dystopian story.
If Schwarzenegger’s word is anything to go by, Powell and the team might just have delivered something pretty “incredible.”
