Harrison Ford Explains Why It Took 15 Years To Make INDIANA JONES 5 and What He Felt When He Wrapped Production

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is finally being released later this week and during a recent interview, Harrison Ford talked about the movie and why is took fifteen years to get made.

It’s pretty crazy to think that we actually did get another sequel to this franchise which launched all the way back in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark! Indiana Jones has been on some crazy adventures that we’ve seen in films such as Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in 1984 and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989. Yeah, there was a fourth film, but most fans don’t seem to want to acknowledge its existence.

Ford was interested in revisiting the character again, though, and the creative team got together and came up with a story that they liked that will see Jones embark on one final journey, and it’s a story that they all liked enough to want to bring to life. Ford told Digital Spy:

"There were some interesting ideas that were floated, but they didn't quite gel over a period of time. And then we found an idea, and a script, and a strong story that we wanted to tell. I'm very happy with the story that we're telling.

"We're coming to the end of Indiana Jones's time on the planet, and I wanted to see a conclusion of his story that accommodated the reality of his age, and what that effect has on this person that we've come to know over the years."

Ford went on to talk about the feelings he felt when he hung up his fedora and whip for the last time:

"The feeling I had is the feeling you have when you've made something, and you can look at it, or you can remember having made it, [and having] the satisfaction of putting work in, and getting something worthy out of it.

"I felt a sense of peace, a sense of contentment, that this particular job that [James Mangold] and I and all the other people involved had done together, was concluded in a way that really felt satisfying to me. It is my hope that others find it as satisfying as I did."

It’s great to hear that Ford is satisfied and happy with the work he did on this final Indiana Jones movie. He was great in the role and watching Ford in action in this movie is the main reason why you want to see it. Audiences are going to be torn on the story, but I enjoyed the heck out of it! The movie takes you on quite an amazing adventure!
