Harrison Ford Has Blunt Response When Asked if Kevin Feige Has Persuaded Him to Return Marvel

Harrison Ford doesn’t mince words. When Variety asked if Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had managed to lure him back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for another round of superhero antics, Ford’s response was blunt and unmistakably him.

"Nope," Ford replied. That's it. No follow-up. No elaboration. Just classic Ford being Ford.

The legendary actor recently stepped into the MCU as President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in Captain America: Brave New World, replacing the late William Hurt, who originated the role back in 2008. Ford's version of Ross is a newly elected U.S. President who also happens to transform into the Red Hulk, making for one of the MCU’s more intense dual identities.

While he's not in a rush to come back, Ford has shown an openness to the character evolving beyond just his Hulked-out persona.

"I hope he can come back," Ford said in an earlier interview. "I hope [there's] a story in which he can develop into something other than the Red Hulk. I think we have the capacity to shift shape between Hulkness and humanity, but that's really not my department. I was very happy with the opportunity to play in this playground."

In Brave New World, Anthony Mackie officially took the mantle of Captain America as Sam Wilson, teaming up with Danny Ramirez, who suited up as Joaquin Torres, AKA the new Falcon. The film helped push the MCU forward while honoring its roots.

Reflecting on the role, Ford gave props to Hurt’s groundwork and expressed admiration for the Marvel universe as a whole.

"I'd like to think the character was a great fit for me. I was honored to be able to do my work on top of a foundation that a wonderful actor, Bill Hurt, provided for the character," he said.

"And the story is a wonderful extension of the stories that Thunderbolt Ross has been part of. I've watched Marvel movies and seen actors I really liked, really admired, have a great time. And I thought, 'Hey, I want me some of that.'"

As of now, there's no official word on whether we'll see Ford's Ross again, but with the door slightly cracked, fans can still hold out hope.

Coming up next in the MCU is Eyes of Wakanda, an animated Black Panther spin-off series that dives into the legacy of Wakandan warriors across time. It premieres August 1 on Disney+. And for those itching for a return to the big screen, Spider-Man 4 is set to swing into theaters next summer.
