Harrison Ford Thanks INDIANA JONES Fans in Heartfelt Video Message
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny star Harrison Ford has shared a heartfelt message for Indiana Jones fans that they are sure to appreciate. This is the last time we’ll see Ford in the role of Indiana Jones, and it was quite a wild last adventure for him. I enjoyed the movie, but it’s been getting mixed reviews and it’s not doing as well as Disney was hoping it would at the box office.
A video of Ford’s message was shared on social media and in it he says:
"For more than 40 years, I've been honored to be your Indiana Jones. Every moment of this adventure has been made for you, the fans, and it's been one of the greatest joys of my career. Thank you for welcoming The Man With The Hat into your lives for generations. It has meant the world to me to share Indy with all of you. As always, I'll see you at the movies – unless there are snakes, of course."
I grew up on this franchise, and I’ve loved watching Ford’s crazy adventures as Indiana Jones, especially those first three movies. Those hold a special place in my heart, but I’m happy to see that Ford got to play the character one more time and tell one final story that he was excited about telling. Ford previously encouraged audiences to see the movie in theaters saying:
"I'm really going to encourage people to go to see this movie in the theater with their family. As far from your refrigerator as you can get. Go into a place with strangers. People you don't know, people who don't watch the same news that you do, maybe, or people that don't look like you or feel like you, and go into the dark and watch something together that's laughs and joy and heart, and feel your common humanity."
When talking about revisiting the character again and why he wanted to tell one more story, Ford said:
"There were some interesting ideas that were floated, but they didn't quite gel over a period of time. And then we found an idea, and a script, and a strong story that we wanted to tell. I'm very happy with the story that we're telling.
"We're coming to the end of Indiana Jones's time on the planet, and I wanted to see a conclusion of his story that accommodated the reality of his age, and what that effect has on this person that we've come to know over the years."
Ford went on to talk about the feelings he felt when he hung up his fedora and whip for the last time:
"The feeling I had is the feeling you have when you've made something, and you can look at it, or you can remember having made it, [and having] the satisfaction of putting work in, and getting something worthy out of it.
"I felt a sense of peace, a sense of contentment, that this particular job that [James Mangold] and I and all the other people involved had done together, was concluded in a way that really felt satisfying to me. It is my hope that others find it as satisfying as I did."
What did you all think about Dial of Destiny, what are your thoughts on the franchise as a whole?
