HARRY POTTER Series Producer Says the Show Will Explore the Books More Deeply
The Harry Potter series that was announced several months ago is still a long ways away, but that doesn’t stop us from talking about all our hopes and dreams for what it will be. The show’s producer, David Heyman, who produced all eight installments of the Harry Potter films, has been working on the upcoming Warner Bros. movie Wonka, and while speaking to Total Film magazine this month about the film, he also touched on the highly anticipated series, saying:
"[On Harry Potter] It’s early days. We haven’t even hired a writer to begin writing. It’s a bit early. But hopefully [it will be] something that’s very special, and gives us an opportunity to see the books, and to enjoy a series which explores the books more deeply."
This is the same sentiment shared by fans everywhere, including star of the films, Daniel Radcliffe, who recently shared his hopes that the series will be more thorough, saying:
“I’m excited for it as a viewer. I’ll be able to enjoy it with everyone else possibly, with a slightly different perspective. It’s a nice thing that a whole new generation is going to get introduced to the stories in a new way. They’ll see it as a TV series, so they’ll probably have time to go into all the things. So for the people that were angry about things that were cut from the film, hopefully, they will finally be able to see the full version they wanted.”
I think it’s going to be so cool to watch the shows include all the details that got left on the cutting room floor in the movies. There just wasn’t enough time to create the depth of story written in the pages of the books. I want to re-read the whole series before I watch the show so I can catch all the nuance. I haven’t read them since they came out, so I’m due for another go round! And I’ve got plenty of time as the Harry Potter series is expected to premiere on Max in 2025/2026.
