HARRY POTTER Star Ralph Fiennes Supports Cillian Murphy Playing Lord Voldemort in HBO Series

Ralph Fiennes, who awesomely played Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter film saga, recently supported the suggestion that Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) should take on the villainous role in the upcoming HBO series.

The suggestion of Murphy came up during a recent interview and Fiennes responded, saying: “Cillian is a fantastic actor. That’s a wonderful suggestion. I would be all in favor of Cillian. Yeah.”

I think a lot of fans would love to see Murphy in the role of Voldemort. There’s no doubt that he would be great in the role, but I don’t even know if he’s in the running!

The Harry Potter TV series is due to hit HBO in 2026. Casey Bloys said the show would be “a faithful adaptation” of JK Rowling’s books and “dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years.”

HBO’s currently on the hunt for a new trio of young actors to play the iconic roles of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. They launched an open casting call a few months ago for children from the UK and Ireland to audition for the leads.

Mark Rylance is currently one of the actors in the running to play Dumbledore.

Succession duo Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod have signed on to write and direct the series. Gardiner will serve as showrunner and executive producer, and Mylod will direct multiple episodes and serve as executive producer.
