Haunting New Trailer for THE DEATH OF ROBIN HOOD Starring Hugh Jackman
A24 just rolled out a fresh promo trailer for The Death of Robin Hood, and it leans hard into a darker, more reflective take on the legendary outlaw.
This isn’t your classic heroic romp through Sherwood Forest. This version looks weathered, bruised, and haunted by everything that came before.
Hugh Jackman steps into the role of an older Robin Hood who’s clearly lived a long and violent life. The new footage adds more grit to what we saw before, layering in fog-drenched landscapes and a heavy sense of reckoning as the story unfolds in the rugged Scottish Highlands.
The tagline reads, "The legend was a lie,” which reframes everything we think we know about Robin Hood. This isn’t about stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. It’s about what comes after the legend fades.
The story follows Robin as he’s forced to confront his past after years of crime and bloodshed. He’s badly wounded after what he thought would be his final battle, only to end up in the care of a mysterious woman who may offer him something he never expected, a shot at redemption.
Joining Jackman in the film are Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett, and Noah Jupe. The film comes from Michael Sarnoski, the director behind Pig and A Quiet Place: Day One, and you can definitely feel his style creeping into this.
There’s a grounded, almost meditative tone mixed with bursts of raw brutality. It’s not trying to glamorize the myth. It’s picking it apart.
Here’s the official synopsis: "Grappling with his past after a life of crime & murder, Robin Hood (Hugh Jackman) finds himself gravely injured after a battle he thought would be his last. In the hands of a mysterious woman, he is offered a chance at salvation."
The movie feels more like a character study than a traditional action movie, which is exactly why it stands out. A24 continues to carve out its own lane with projects like this, and this one looks like it could hit hard if it sticks the landing.
The Death of Robin Hood is set to hit theaters on June 19th, 2026.
