Haunting New Trailer for Vince Gilligan’s PLURIBUS Teases a World Gone Too Happy

Fans of Vince Gilligan are about to dive into something unsettling. The first full trailer for Pluribus, the upcoming Apple TV+ series from the Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator, has dropped, and it’s giving off some seriously eerie vibes.

The show has been shrouded in mystery, teased only through cryptic footage and an ominous exchange with the President. But this new trailer gives us our best look yet, revealing a chillingly twisted world where everything looks perfect… except it absolutely isn’t.

Apple TV+ describes the series simply as: “The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness.”

That “most miserable person” appears to be Carol Sturka, played by Rhea Seehorn, who once again reunites with Gilligan after their acclaimed run on Better Call Saul. Carol seems to be the only person on Earth who isn’t blissfully happy, and that’s a problem.

The trailer shows a disturbingly cheerful humanity, obsessed with ensuring Carol joins them in their unrelenting joy, no matter what it takes.

The footage sets a haunting tone. Streets are littered with signs of catastrophe with burned-out cars, ambulance lights flickering through smoke, and the eerie image of smiling citizens tidying up the aftermath like it’s all perfectly normal.

Everywhere Carol goes, people turn to watch her, their grins never faltering, their eyes too bright. It’s that perfect blend of the familiar and the horrifying that Gilligan does so well. The X-Files side of him is definitly coming out in this series.

Even with the trailer showing us more than any of the earlier teasers, Pluribus still keeps its secrets close. There’s no clear explanation for what caused this “happiness epidemic,” and that’s exactly what makes it so interesting.

It looks like another masterclass in tension from a storyteller who’s made a career out of exploring human nature when pushed to the edge.

Pluribus premieres on Apple TV+ on November 7, debuting with a two-episode premiere.
