Hawkeye's New "Exciting Direction" as Ronin in AVENGERS: ENDGAME Teased By Jeremy Renner and Producer
As we’ve already seen, we know that there are big changes coming to Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton in Avengers: Endgame. He is leaving behind Hawkeye and taking on the mantel of Ronin.
No one really wants to talk about Ronin’s story arc in the film because he obviously has a very big and important part to play in the story. As you know, the character was no where to be seen in Infinity War, but that’s ok because he’ll be back in a big way.
When asked about his character’s role and how he felt about rejoining the team in the film at a recent press conference, all Renner would say was:
"I feel good. I feel rested. Yeah, I'm good. Stretched out, had some coffee, ready to rock."
That’s it. Nothing else. But, producer Trinh Tran pointed to a movie poster for the film and teased his exciting direction:
"That's the costume. I'm trying to figure out a way not to spoil it. He has a new costume. Look, it's an exciting direction for him. It's something we haven't ever done before. And, you know, he was missing in action in Infinity War, so, we wanted to do something different, in that sense."
When previously talking about the character before Avengers: Infinity War was released, the Russos shared some information on Hawkeye’s journey in the films, saying:
"Coming out of Civil War, he’s in the same position that Cap and Falcon are at the end of that movie. And Ant-Man. Coming into this movie, you know… Characters on Cap’s side coming out of the Civil War, some made certain decisions and others made other decisions that led to different paths in them dealing with oversight in this movie in a different way. So Hawkeye’s on his own journey in this movie."
It was also explained that, "He has a unique reaction to the civil war situation that puts him in a special spot in this film." Add that unique reaction to the events of Infinity War, we know that Barton is now on a dark path of revenge.
While we don’t know for sure, a lot of fans believe that Barton loses his family after Thanos snapped his fingers. That’s what we believe will send him on the dark road that he starts to walk when we catch up with him in Endgame. Renner also previously said:
"We’re doing a lot of really wondrous things that I’ve always wanted to do with this character … I think everyone will be very pleased when they find out what happens."
Well, we’ll find out soon enough how Hawkeye/Ronin’s story arc plays out in Endgame. While we wait, let us know, how do you think his story will play out?
