THE BOY AND THE HERON Voice Cast Includes Christian Bale, Mark Hamill, Robert Pattinson, Willem Dafoe, Florence Pugh, and More

Gkids has announced the impressive English voice cast for Hayao Miyazaki’s upcoming anime feature film, The Boy and the Heron. That cast includes Christian Bale, Dave Bautista, Gemma Chan, Willem Dafoe, Karen Fukuhara, Mark Hamill, Robert Pattinson and Florence Pugh.

Bale will take on the role of Shoichi Maki, Bautista will play The Parakeet King, Chan will play Natsuko, Dafoe voices Noble Pelican, Fukuhara is Lady Himi, Hamill is Granduncle, Pattinson plays The Gray Heron, and Pugh will be playing Kiriko. Luca Padovan has also joined as Mahito Maki. Mamoudou Athie, Tony Revolori and Dan Stevens are featured as the Parakeets.

The official synopsis for the movie reads: “Through encounters with his friends and uncle, the story follows a teenage boy’s psychological development. He enters a magical world with a talking grey heron after finding an abandoned tower in his new town.”

The film will be presented in IMAX at the Chinese Theater on Wednesday for the Opening Night of the Animation is Film Festival.

Studio Ghibli’s The Boy and the Heron will land in cinemas nationwide on December 8th, in both the original Japanese and English language versions. The Studio Ghibli feature begins special preview engagements on November 22nd before expanding to cinemas nationwide and in Canada on December 8th.
