Hayley Atwell Will Reprise Peggy Carter Role in AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY
Not long after it was reported that Chris Evans will return to the role of Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday, it’s been announced that Hayley Atwell has joined the project and will reprise her role as Peggy Carter.
The news comes from Deadline, and there are no other details to share on how the character will factor into the story, but it’s safe to say that we will see her and Rogers spending some time together.
The last time we saw Atwell in the MCU, she played Captain Carter in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and she was brutally murdered.
It was recently reported that the version of Steve Rogers that will be in the movie is Nomad, which is the alternate identity that Steve Rogers takes on in 1974’s Captain America #180 comic. In this storyline, he abandons his Captain America moniker after losing faith in the U.S. government and becomes a man serving no country.
As a fan of Peggy Carter, it will be awesome to see her return to the MCU. I’m excited about this news!
Evans and Atwell were going to reunite for a stand-alone movie being developed back in 2021, but they couldn’t crack the story for it. Regardless, Marvel and Evans saw the new Avengers film as the perfect opportunity to bring back both characters.
What do you think about Hayley Atwell returning to play Peggy in the MCU? How do you think she’ll be incorporated into the story?
Avengers: Doomsday is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and it arrives on May 1, 2026.
