Henry Cavill’s New Look & WWE Star Drew McIntyre Revealed in HIGHLANDER Set Photos
Some new photos from the set of Highlander have surfaced, and they’re giving fans plenty to talk about. The long-awaited reboot is currently filming in Scotland, and these early glimpses offer another look at Henry Cavill stepping into the role of Connor MacLeod, along with the reveal of a familiar face from WWE joining the cast.
Production is taking place at the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, which feels like the perfect backdrop for a story rooted in centuries of history and conflict.
Cavill’s transformation into the immortal warrior stands out, with a rugged, period-inspired look that leans into the character’s origins. Alongside him, Karen Gillan has been spotted as Heather MacLeod, Connor’s first wife, teasing the emotional foundation that will shape his journey.
But the biggest reveal from these set photos is the addition of WWE superstar Drew McIntyre, who is stepping into the role of Angus MacLeod, Connor’s brother.
The images mark the first time we’ve seen him in character, confirming earlier reports about his involvement. It’s a pretty great fit too, as McIntyre brings a natural physical presence that works perfectly in this kind of mythic story.
McIntyre had previously kept things under wraps, only hinting at the opportunity by saying he had “the chance to talk to a couple of people and get offered an opportunity,” while adding he’d go into details about it once more is officially out.
His role in Highlander comes shortly after his appearance at WrestleMania 42, where he competed in an unsanctioned match and took a loss before stepping away from WWE for this project.
Interestingly, this film also connects him back to Dave Bautista, as the stunt and action team working on the movie previously collaborated with Bautista, which may have played a part in bringing McIntyre on board.
Also spotted on set is Kevin McKidd, though there’s still no word on who he’s playing. The mystery around his role just adds another layer of intrigue to what’s already shaping up to be a pretty packed cast.
Directed by Chad Stahelski, the filmmaker behind the John Wick franchise, Highlander follows Connor MacLeod long after his first death. Now living in the modern world, he’s pulled back into the violent struggle between immortals when a dangerous enemy resurfaces.
The story is expected to jump across different time periods, blending historical elements with present-day action.
The cast also includes Russell Crowe, Djimon Hounsou, and Marisa Abela, making this one of the more ambitious fantasy projects currently in production.
