HIGHLANDER Reboot Set Photos Reveal Henry Cavill’s Battle-Ready Look and a Mysterious Scar

The long-awaited return of Highlander is finally taking shape, and now we’ve got a closer look at Henry Cavill in action. New set photos from the upcoming reboot have started making the rounds online, giving fans a fresh glimpse at Cavill’s version of the immortal warrior.

The film project kicked off production in early 2026 and Chad Stahelski steering the ship. The newly surfaced images, shared by user UnBoxPHD on X, highlight a few intriguing details.

One close-up shot reveals a noticeable scar on Cavill’s face, hinting at the kind of brutal history you’d expect from a character who’s lived through centuries of combat.

The other shots show him suited up in a modern, grounded look with a long black trench coat, T-shirt, and cargo pants. It’s a style that feels practical but still carries that classic lone-warrior energy.

Fans who’ve been following the production will remember that Cavill previously teased his character on Instagram, offering an early look that featured a similar outfit along with a sword.

At the time, he wrote, “Happy First Look for Highlander! This has been quite the journey for me, which I’ll tell you all about when the time is right, but it’s a special moment to be able to share this. I hope you enjoy. Highlander.”

That tease already had people talking, but these new photos push things further by showing a more lived-in version of the character. The scar alone suggests this isn’t going to be a clean, polished hero. This is someone who’s been through it.

Cavill has also said he’s not approaching this lightly. Speaking at a Q&A in April 2024, he opened up about stepping into the world of Highlander and what it means to him.

“I am a lover of the original movies, for better or worse. It’s one of those things where reading the script, I wasn’t quite sure where they were going to go.”

He continued by reassuring fans that the film won’t stray from what made the original story work, adding, “If you think you’ve seen me do sword work before, you haven’t seen anything yet.”

That last part should get longtime fans especially excited. Cavill’s already proven he can handle action, but it sounds like Highlander is pushing him into new territory with more intense sword training and choreography.

The original 1986 film built a cult following thanks to its mix of fantasy, history, and brutal duels between immortals. With Stahelski’s experience crafting slick, hard-hitting action in the John Wick franchise, this reboot has the potential to bring that same level of precision and impact to sword fighting.

There’s still no official release date locked in, but the film is currently expected to arrive in 2027.
