Hideo Kojima Is Executive Producing a DEATH STRANDING Anime for Disney+ and It Sounds Absolutely Wild
It looks like Hideo Kojima is about to stretch the Death Stranding universe even further, this time into anime territory. During Disney’s Asia-based content showcase in Hong Kong, the legendary creator announced that a brand-new Death Stranding anime series is officially on the way, and it’s coming to Disney+.
The series, currently carrying the working title Death Stranding: Isolations, will be executive produced by Kojima himself and is set to launch in 2027.
This project is completely separate from the previously announced feature-length anime Death Stranding: Mosquito, giving fans two distinct animated adventures set within Kojima’s mysterious world.
Concept art from Ilya Kuvshinov (Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045) was unveiled during the presentation and later posted by Kojima Productions, teasing a visually stunning and atmospheric experience.
Here’s what the official description reveals: "Set in the world of Death Stranding, Death Stranding Isolations will tell a completely new story, separate from that of the video games. The upcoming series will follow a young man and woman as they set out on an adventure."
The show will be directed by Takayuki Sano (Bullet), who’s expected to bring a grounded but cinematic approach to Kojima’s surreal storytelling style.
While fans wait for Isolations, there’s plenty of Death Stranding content in the pipeline. Back in September, we got a first look at Death Stranding: Mosquito, another anime adaptation currently in development.
The footage showed a man with a tentacle-like growth on his face swimming toward a mysterious human-shaped figure. Another scene featured the same character on land, caught in the rain of Timefall, fighting off tar-covered creatures that looked eerily connected to him.
And that’s not all, there’s also a live-action Death Stranding film is also moving forward at A24, expanding the franchise even further across different mediums.
Between Death Stranding: Isolations, Mosquito, and the A24 live-action movie, Kojima’s haunting post-apocalyptic vision is evolving into a full-blown multimedia universe.
If the anime turns out to be as imaginative and emotionally complex as the games, Death Stranding fans are in for something truly mind-blowing when the show finally hits Disney+ in 2027.
