Hideo Kojima Offers Recommendations For a Number of Japanese Films in New Criterion Closet Video

Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima recently was a guest on the Criterion Closet and while there he recommended a number of Japanese films to watch. While Kojima is best known for being a prolific video game creator and storyteller, he loves movies and he wanted to share some of them that other movie fans should watch.

His recommendations give us some insight into his creative mind and his vision for the projects that he’s worked on and the cinematic stories that he tells.

The Criterion Closet is a special room filled with a ton of great movies at Criterion's office in New York. Directors and actors are often invited there to come pick out their favorite movies and talk about them. In Kojima's video, he picks out 9 Japanese movies from the 50s and 60s. Those films include:
