HORIZON ZERO DAWN Movie in Development From Columbia Pictures and Sony PlayStation

Sony Pictures has announced that that Columbia Pictures and Sony PlayStation are currently developing a film adaptation of the hit fantasy video game Horizon Zero Dawn. No other details about the project have been revealed.

A few years ago, we learned that Sony partnered with Netflix for a series, but unfortunately, nothing ever came from that.

Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions said the project is “at the early stages of developing a film adaptation.”

He added: “Just imagine, Aloy's beloved origin story set in a vibrant, far-future world filled with giant machines, brought to you for the first time on the big screen.”

Horizon Zero Dawn follows Aloy, a brave young huntress in a primitive tribal world where strange, monstrous, animalistic machines roam the wilderness. She finds herself on a quest to learn the truth about her mysterious origin and the state the world is in.

There’s no word on if the film will follow the story of the game or tell a story that expands on the lore. Regardless, I hope that the studio brings in a strong and talented creative team to bring Horizon Zero Dawn to life.

One of the other big Sony PlayStation film projects is the movie adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima with director David Lietch.
