Final Trailer for Scary Movie 6 Promises a Ruthlessly Funny Roast of Modern Horror

The Scary Movie franchise is finally making its return, and based on the newly released final trailer, absolutely nothing in modern horror is getting out alive.

After years away from theaters, Scary Movie 6 is set to arrive this week, bringing back the franchise's signature brand of outrageous, R-rated parody.

Paramount has unveiled one last trailer for the long-awaited sequel, giving fans another look at the chaos that's about to be unleashed on horror's biggest franchises. On top of that, one of the latest spots even throws in a hilarious jab at the recently released Backrooms movie.

The original Scary Movie hit theaters in 2000 and quickly became a pop culture phenomenon. Sequels followed in 2001, 2003, 2006, and 2013, but now the series is returning with its original stars ready to take aim at an entirely new generation of horror trends.

This time around, the film takes inspiration from the current Scream era, with the Core Four finding themselves back in danger while every major horror property becomes fair game.

Reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, legacy sequels, and those supposedly "final" chapters are all headed straight into the parody blender.

"Nothing is sacred. No trope survives. Every line gets crossed. The Wayans are back to cancel the Cancel Culture."

Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, and Regina Hall reunite as fan-favorite characters Shorty, Ray, Cindy, and Brenda for another round of ridiculous horror mayhem. Joining them are returning franchise veterans and newcomers alike, including Jon Abrahams, Lochlyn Munro, Dave Sheridan, Cheri Oteri, Anthony Anderson, Chris Elliott, Damon Wayans Jr., and more.

From what we've seen so far, the movie appears determined to mock every horror trend that's emerged since the franchise went dormant. Whether it's prestige horror, endless franchise revivals, or studios squeezing one more sequel out of a property that should have ended years ago, everything looks like it's getting roasted.

Scary Movie 6 is directed by Michael Tiddes, whose previous credits include A Haunted House, A Haunted House 2, Fifty Shades of Black, Naked, Sextuplets, and Half Baked: Totally High.

The screenplay comes from Rick Alvarez, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Marlon Wayans, and Shawn Wayans, with Neal H. Moritz producing alongside Alvarez and the Wayans team.

If the trailers are any indication, fans can expect a fast-moving, unapologetically ridiculous comedy that goes after just about every horror movie released over the last decade. The franchise built its reputation on pushing jokes as far as possible, and this new installment looks eager to continue that tradition.

Scary Movie 6 opens in theaters nationwide on June 5, 2026.
