If Marvel's THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLIDER Gets a Second Season, It Will Get a New Title
When Marvel Studios announced that they would be developing shows for Disney+, it was explained that these would be one season shows that progress the stories of the characters. We also know that these stories will tie into the future films of the MCU. These shows weren’t meant to have second seasons, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be other shows in the future involving the same characters.
During a recent episode of the podcast, Murphy's Law, Charles Murphy offered some insight into what fans can expect from the Disney+ series, and claimed that:
"Coming out of season one, [Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson] are going to have gone through something traumatic and be different."
He went on to talk about a second season, saying:
"There was definitely at one point a plan for a second season … If they did have season two, it wouldn't be called The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Season 2, it would be a thematically related thing with a different name.”
It makes sense that the next series would have a different title because it will be telling a completely different story. A story that could very well continue something that the Marvel movie universe sets up as opposed the the The Falcon and Winter Soldier series. The story told in that series will most likely set up something for a story we’ll see on the big screen. I don’t know, it’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out!
Anthony Mackie is back as Sam Wilson/Falcon, and Sebastian Stan also returns as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier. The mismatched pair are military vets and former partners of Captain America “who team up for a global adventure that will test their survival skills — as well as their patience.” Emily VanCamp also reprises the role of Sharon Carter and Daniel Brühl is back as Baron Zemo.
According to a previous report, we learned that Falcon and Winter Soldier might end up having to deal with some sort of massive viral threat. The report speculates that this viral threat could come from Virus X, the Madbomb, or something else that will put the population in grave danger. I imagine this play was hatched by Baron Zemo. It’s also been rumored that the "crux of what that show’s going to be” is that “the government doesn’t want Sam Wilson to be Captain America.” That’s probably how the character U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell) comes into play.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is directed by Kari Skogland, and Malcolm Spellman is the head writer. The series was originally supposed to premiere in August of this year. I’m not sure if that’s still the plan.
