INVINCIBLE Creator Robert Kirkman Confirms Season 2's Main Villain and Teases His Story Arc
Invincible creator Robert Kirkman has confirmed that the main villain in Season 2 of the superhero animated series will be Angstrom Levy, and in a recent interview with Collider, he teased the character’s story arc.
The first trailer for Invincible Season 2 was released during Comic-Con, and it got fans excited for what is coming. When talking about the villain that Mark Grayson will find himself fighting in the series, Kirkman said:
“I think he’s probably the big bad of Season 2, but he’s not the only big bad of Season 2. There’s a lot going on in the season. But I think that, like, the Invincible/Omni-Man conflict was kind of the through line of the first season, what happens with Angstrom Levy carries over the entire season in a way that some of the other stories don’t.”
It’ll be interesting to see how Levy’s story plays out over the course of Season 2, I like that they are looking to play with the character in a unique way.
In the comics, Angstrom Levy is able to open up portals between realities. He’s introduced as the first being capable of jumping through the multiverse, and he’s looking to create a machine that’s capable of harnessing and absorbing the intelligence of all his variants. This would allow him to become the smartest entity in the multiverse.
Just in case you haven’t read the comics, I won’t get into what happens to the character and spoil anything for you.
Invincible revolves around 17-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), who's just like every other guy his age — except his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons). The ending of the first season was insane as it ended with Omni-Man's twisted true intentions being revealed. I’m excited to see how the story continues to play out in Season 2!
The series also stars Sandra Oh, Zazie Beetz, Gillian Jacobs, Zachary Quinto, Jason Mantzoukas, Melise, Mark Hamill, Mahershala Ali, Seth Rogen, and more.
The second season of Invincible hits Amazon Prime on November 3rd of this year.
